EK pilots joining Norwegian

Hello gents,
I have been successful with Norwegian interview and i would like to know if there is any other ek pilot who is in the process to leave that can give me somw tips to prepare all documents.

This is one of those circumstances where being proactive will help rather than banging your head against a brick wall.
FWIW, a former sim buddy did as I’m going to describe.
First of all make sure you know exactly what you need.
Secondly, make the mental and emotional leap that this is all worth the time and effort it is going to take.
Lastly, forget sending emails, iron a shirt and get face to face with whomever you need to get the documentation from, it might take a week, or two days, but remember its worth the effort.
A perfect example of a bit of persistence happened when my mate was given the brush off by a person in fleet, it was resolved when he spoke face to face with a certain DSVP, the document was forwarded 2 minutes later.
This is an exercise in your interpersonal skills as much as anything else, it always helps if you start the discussion with “please, can you help me” as this works far better that the in your face of “give me what I need” even though that’s how frustrating it can be.
It will all work out and be worth the effort.

Sadly, it also highlights the EK attitude to their employees - which is why people are leaving in the first place.

It would appear, as evidenced by their own actions, that EK are quite happy to 'retain' unhappy employees by trying to make it difficult for them to leave, rather than actually aspiring to a happy, stable workforce - which would be a win/win situation.

Couldn't possibly have that in EK, could we!

Norwegian (LH) probably being one of the lowest paying long haul operations in the world also shows just how fed up people seem to be with EK. My friends on the 787 in Norwegian are all pretty happy though, on the other hand that's also true for the ones I know in EK....

How much do you wanna be paid by a LCC?
There is people here willing to fly for Jet2 and get paid half of what Norwegian is paying..

Well, not being quite as bad as some doesn't make it good. With Italian tax regulations I guess they've set contract up (?) with a larger variable pay than other contracts and that way been able to bring total tax load down. Only problem is if you're not flying, for what ever reason, pay is getting even lower.

I can mention several low cost airlines even one ultra low cost airline where pilots make more than that plus benefits. One of the problems is that pilots associate LCC with ****ty pay. we are selling ourselves short.

Where can you earn around 8 Grand Sterling after tax, and avoid flying 5 earlies, 3 OFF, 4 Lates, and be able to do it for another 20 odd years without going insane?

Honestly seems that the Korean contract where you make around 10,000 pounds after tax ( Due tax agreement with UK ) is the only place to make good money and still have time at home in Europe or wherever you want to be.. Yes, I know life is all about compromises, but I don't want to go back home or to live in Spain or Italy on a tight budget and then regret it, Oh and have no pension. 10 grand at Korean Air still allows you to make your own, and have extra for toys. But, then you'll be away from family for a few weeks, So the dog starts chasing its own tail again.

Everything is a compromise. Jet2 pension is good, but the flying aint for me. Norwegian as 787 Skipper seems good, but money not so. Need a good pension and avoid 4 sector days for the next 20 years. OR stay where I am.
