Excuse my civilian ignorance please.
What were the white stripes along the wings of Harriers for?

Are these what you're referring to, along the hinge point of the flaps/ailerons?

It's obvious that the pilot nearest the camera has just moved forward a bit for us so we can see the white lines on his wings...otherwise they'd be out of the frame :rolleyes:

Of course! Thanks for pointing that out. I had needed a 'Trump' ruler (ie a bent one...) to line up the heads :-)

FWIW - there are two strips on the flap because the Harrier II has double-slotted flaps.

Got that ............ it is for painting, very delicately, a beautiful 1:200 scale model.
Not sure if my hand and eye coordination is up to it!
