View Full Version : Creating a job for someone while asking us to pay extra subs

I'm sure KC is a great guy and all but how much are we paying him per month in this new role that desperately had to be filled?

We didn't have enough to cover the expenses already and that's why we are paying extra per month, but we do have enough to pay him to do a made up job title. Anyone else confused by this? Kind of like not paying 13th month then giving cabin crew a payrise.

KC was my and I’m sure most other Bus guys only worthwhile point of contact on the third floor for many years. Whatever position he takes with the AOA, I’m sure that within a very short space of time we’ll be wondering how we ever got on without him. Welcome aboard KC.
X wind, some people are worth it at any cost. Not familiar with the concept?

Xwind. We are all entitled to our opinions. I do not wish to say yours is wrong, but I doubt the majority will agree with you.

I'm guessing you've never met the man, know his work ethic, and his capabilities.
Personally, I wish the HKAOA had been able to engage his services earlier.
A more outstanding, honorable, smart and hard working gentleman would be hard to find.

I would bet my next pay rise that he will be very warmly welcomed by all that know him.

Welcome aboard Sir!

KC for president, is all I can say!

I agree with all the above posts.

In addition, the extra subs we're paying every month are not 'to cover extra expenses'. It's a war chest (refundable) to cover colleagues who get sacked sticking their heads above the parapet. Think JL.

I'm sure he is a wonderful person but we are not a charity. We are for the benefit of fee paying members.

How much in fees did he pay to the AOA in the last 20 odd years? How much are are we paying him per month?

We could use the money we are paying him for the "war chest" and then reduce our monthly subs. We are obviously paying more than we need to if we can afford this.

You're right, we should sack everyone employed by the AOA and run it on a volunteer basis. Good idea.

Not saying sack everyone, I'm saying how can we afford to do such a huge favour for him at a time when we are being asked to pay extra?

And it's coming out of our pockets.

Xwind, KC is the exact person we want within the AoA, absolute gentleman and will be a great asset. You probably don't know but he was treated unfairly and one of the reasons why he left cx

Dan,

what exactly will he do and how will it help our cause?

And how much are we paying him?

Xwindldg,

Over the last couple of years that guy has done more for the pilots than all 3rd floor managers combined. He has some good knowledge about how CX works and is a great addition to the team.

Everybody knows that you are a management wannabe.

The guys he helped should create a group and pay him then, we all shouldn't have to pay for a non-member.

Dr Cocks was a great guy who helped lots of people and got shafted, let's make him assistant manager of people services.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. It doesn't make you any less WRONG. You've said your piece, now clear off.

Xwind’s are there to try us . As a suggestion if you don’t like the fees in the AOA then leave and stop bleating

Actually Xwind he is a replacement for someone who just left the aoa office anyway. And the war chest money is being held separately from the general operating funds to allow for repayment. Ask your AOA for specifics if you feel you need them.

Hiring him is like buying the source code of management operating system and knowing where the bugs are to exploit them.

He will be a very welcome person to have on your side if your up for a D&G. Also a truly compassionate fellow who understands very well the hardships such as long time away from families and the only home time with the family is when your too tired to share their lives.

Absolutely an excellent addition to the AOA.

Dont know how much he is earning, don’t really care, he is worth it. To employ someone on FO wage would be about $2 a day per member.

Don’t know the person in question, but I hope he will be an asset.
However xwlndg is right, we are not a charity, and it is also not a good time to be spending extra money.
I am trusting the leadership that they made a wise choice here.

Put it this way - he's a gamekeeper turned poacher, or vice versa. Think how upset you would be if the GS joined CX management, but in reverse. If DP and AT have intelligence, they will be very concerned

Seriously? Did you not read the thread above? He is a replacement for someone who recently resigned. Its not an extra spend per say, its keeping the aoa at the correct staff level.

Xwindldg is either a troll, or the dumbest pilot in CX. KC is a HUGE asset to this union, and I welcome him aboard. He will be worth every penny. Win for us, massive loss for CX management.

umm a person who had to listen to managment plans for us, scrapping his years by trying to get ahead gets kicked in the teeth and you dont think he wont be an asset?.......fine take a vote bet xwindldg managment wannabe will come out on the loser end......KC is fine......the budget is fine ...the war chest is refundable. ...and the office managment are permitted to hire and dismiss their officestaff as they feel fit. Think xwindling small mind is trolling again.......can we get him sinbinned to Yammer pls?

To say that he is our new secret weapon is just plain stupid. Even if RH suddenly became assistant manager of people services it wouldn't change a thing.

A previous poster said he is a replacement for someone who left. Who left? Is the pay going to be the same?

Amazing that no one seems to care how their money gets spent.

Dan,

what exactly will he do and how will it help our cause?

And how much are we paying him?

The first thing KC should definitely do is some sort of morale booster program.
My personal favourite is source and "sell" (profit goes into HKAOA coffers) a "Make CX Great Again" baseball cap... (#MCXGA).. Everyone can wear them to work and meetings with 3rd floor types + DFO..
