Many months ago, i was teased suggesting that Luton could build a new runway.

WELL, I was correct! The existing tarmac can be turned into an emergency runway/ taxiway with high speed exits, and a new longer runway will be built south of the existing.

A bank near you owns all the land south of 08/26, handy eh?

So where will the money for such a project come from?

Changing the subject, one of the current concession partners defied the stock market and closed a bit higher than other stock last week.

So if a local bank owns the land to the south of the present runway, and the present Govt need more useful runways...!!!???

I am only a sad bear, so what do I know?

The government might like a new longer runway at Luton but TBI have said that they have no plans to increase the length, as they don’t think the odd 747 that might come to Luton would pay for the expense of an extension.

In a development brief TBI recon they can squeeze 20 million passengers within the airports existing boundary. Any expansion beyond that would have to be southwards but that would put part of the airport in Hertfordshire so you can guess what Herts CC would say to that.
