I thought I'd set up this thread to try and gather some facts and figures. It would be interesting to see what way people did their training, how long it took to get a job and where they got their first job. So, if your willing, leave a post in the following format. I can't answer as I'm still in training.

Any other info you think is relevant:- I spent 10 months as a Pilot Apprentice before starting a bonded TR.

CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial):- first
MCC provider:- popular one in Dublin
TT when you got a job:- 260
Did you have to become a FI first:- No
How long to find first job:- 1 year
Airline and A/C type at first job:- Green one and A32F
Any other info you think is relevant:- Keep yourself involved in aviation. Make your own luck to find yourself in the right place and the right time.

ATPL average and number of resits:- 89%, No resits
CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial):- Both first time
MCC provider:- CTC/L3
TT when you got a job:- 154.2
Did you have to become a FI first:- No
How long to find first job:- 5 Months
Airline and A/C type at first job:- RYR, 737-800
Any other info you think is relevant:- New 5k bonded programme is, IMO, one of the best deals out there at the minute for a cadet. Hopefully other LCC's will follow suit.

Training route (Modular/Integrated):- Modular
Schools used to train:- PPL at Welshpool in 1999, ATPLs distance correspondence with Bristol Ground School, CPL and IR with Ravenair at Liverpool. MCC with The Flight Centre at Wolverhampton now closed.
ATPL average and number of resits:- Can't remember, but not all first time passes, NAV passed 3rd attempt. Not because I am stupid but due to lack of preparation due to full time work commitments.
CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial):- First time pass on both in minimum hours.
MCC provider:- The Flight Centre at Wolverhampton now closed.
TT when you got a job:- 440 hours
Did you have to become a FI first:- No
How long to find first job:- 2 years
Airline and A/C type at first job:- Thomson 737
Any other info you think is relevant:- Was at Thomson for 3 years and made redundant in 2010. Moved to Qatar Airways as a FO and 8 years later, now a training captain on their 320 fleet.

Never give up, keep going and eventually you'll get where you want to be.

CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial): First Time

Did you have to become a FI first: No
How long to find first job: 3 Months
Airline and A/C type at first job: Ryanair Boeing 737
Any other info you think is relevant: Obtained a PPL before starting commercial flight training

Some great replies to this thread, keep it coming please! It seems like most people so far have not had to wait too long to find something.

Sorry, TangoAlphad, I didn't mean to degrade flying instructors. I resent the skygods as much as you. Most instructors I've flown with are very skilled pilots and deserve higher pay and more recognition. They have to retain a lot of knowledge, hold a lot of responsibility and have to maintain good handling skills.

CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial):- first time (revalidation included).

MCC provider:- FTE Jerez.

TT when you got a job:- 280h.

Did you become a FI first:- No.

How long to find first job:- 7,5 years.

Airline and A/C type at first job:- SunExpress 738.

Any other info you think is relevant: I succeed the interview in February and still wait to start the TR. I can't wait...

Schools used to train: Small but great Portuguese flight school
ATPL average and number of resits: 94%, 1st passes
CPL/MEIR passes (first time/partial):- 1st pass
MCC provider: FSB Berlin (King Air B200)
TT when you got a job: 250
Did you become a FI first: No
How long to find first job: 3 years 3 months
Airline and A/C type at first job: Irish 737
Any other info you think is relevant: Got into an aviation job before moving to the flight deck, Aviation degree. Just had 1 interview during my whole search and nailed it.

Never give up and ALWAYS keep your ratings/medicals current. Look for GA jobs as well if after 6 months you can't find an airline. There are plenty and some times all you need is a phone call to get it right. Safe flights! :ok:

Did you become a FI first:- No
How long to find first job:-4.5 years
Airline and A/C type at first job:-an ACMI charter company B737
Any other info you think is relevant:- Passed an assessment end of last year by another company but still did not get the job due to reduction of AC in fleet. That did hurt a lot, but I did not give up. There is no such thing as giving up.
