A friend has a 1918 or earlier prop. How might he be able to identify the engine or aeroplane that it was once attached to ? Almost certainly British. Thanks

Given the expertise on this site, I would suggest post a picture.

There will be stamped numbers and letters on the hub. These will identify the prop.

I don’t know. My comment was based on a clock made by my grandfather, from a four-bladed propeller hub.

If you post a picture and show or list the markings, I’m sure a PPRuNe expert will be along directly. :)

Probably.

We're not at all put off by the fact that the last poster to ask for help identifying a prop (a couple of weeks ago) didn't bother to acknowledge the responses.

Though he did post a photo of it. :O

Any idea what this prop was fitted to? (https://www.pprune.org/aviation-history-nostalgia/607165-any-idea-what-prop-fitted.html)
