Not quite as public, but we saw a plumber's symbol for a toilet on a printed circuit board once (back in the days of Letraset. though I don't know for sure that that's what they used). You couldn't do that with the speed of today's electronics, it would bugger up the inductance and capacitance no end.

I have one of those biscuit tins stored away somewhere. The last time I remember seeing it there was rust developing around the seams.
