If Innsbruck is closed ?

Flying to Innsbruck on Easy jet 07:40 Thursday morning . Its an airport known for its closures snow / visibility etc
If its closed whats likely to happen ?
Delay until open ?? how long ???
Fly to Munich & bus or train onwards
Any Tips gratefully received as I'd like to know what plan B is as there is no luton flight the following day what would my options be to minimise delay in getting there ?

Either your aeroplane will delay before departure or will depart and hope the weather improves.

If the flight is cancelled then you would need to speak to EZY as to their policy as the cancellation would be due to the weather.

If the flight departs then has to divert, you have a contract with EZY to take you to INN, so they would be responsible for getting you from the airfield that you have diverted to, to INN, whether that be by road or by refuelling and going again if the weather has bucked up.

I ski regularly in Austria.

If I was on a package (rare these days) I would go to Innsbruck.

When I travel flight only I go to Munich or Salzburg.

Salzburg has less weather risk than Innsbruck and Munich is an easy drive into the Tirol - rental cars are considerably cheaper in Germany than Austria, as well.

You are in the hands of the airline if the weather is poor at Innsbruck - more than likely a divert to Munich, wait for a coach to be organised, find the coach, wait for someone who can’t find the coach etc. Worst case is the flight is cancelled and you lose your holiday.

Innsbruck is an excellent access into the Tirol but be aware of it’s limitations.

Fly to Innsbruck every year, yes there are more than often delays/diversions.
From around my 10 flights in, only 1 diversion so far, that was with Easyjet, diverted to Munich. They had coaches ready and waiting, all signed and clearly told where to meet the coach and sort out our luggage. Couldn't have been easier, to be honest, I don't know that is always the case though. Coach took around 2 hours to get to Innsbruck.

In terms of the Airport, it is by far the best I have ever been to in terms of time taken to get out through passport control and collect your bags, usually around 5-10 mins after getting off the aircraft. Just make sure you get a coffee upstairs and go out to the viewing area before you catch a flight home, really one of the best airport views around!

Thanks for that banditB6 divert and coach not a problem as long as i get there I NEED this holiday stressed to eyeballs with money business worries thisis my week of peaceful sanity ... hopefully niceto know that easy will divert and do a coach better than a cancellation by a long way

No problem, I think there are very few times the airport is actually closed for more than a couple of hours so I doubt a cancellation will occur, probably just do the Munich thing if they have to, they will have people to bring back also, so in their best interests to have a go as such. As a side note are you staying in Innsbruck or venturing for some skiing?

4 days innsbruck aiming to ski Nordkette 1 day axamer lizum another , stubai ( the glacier ) another and one other area TBA Then on to St Anton for 3 days
Bit of everything really, sussing out innsbruck as a weekend ski destination for the future

Certainly take time to take a look at the airport from the viewing gallery - I had the opportunity to do it from the tower roof during a technical visit.

The other great thing to do in Innsbruck is to visit the Swarovski Crystal Worlds Innsbruck Store, although not recommended with SWMBO or significant other in tow.
