Dear All,

As promised this month's image comes from warmer, more arid climes.

Pictured is a flawless R44 Raven II at Rawnsley Park Station in South Australia. Rawnlsey Park is in the Flinders Ranges, a spectacular part of Australia. In this picture the machine has been readied for flight in the dawn and ready to start home after a week of helicamping in the Australian outback, something everyone should try and do once I reckon. Especially with a mate, or your Dad.

No Robinsons for me :}

I hear you.

Just curious whether square fwd cross tube on that R-copter, or optical illusion?

I did take a 206 over the Flinders Ranges many years ago and it didn't strike me as being any more spectacular than anywhere else.

Just curious whether square fwd cross tube on that R-copter, or optical illusion?It's an optical illusion, the way the light is reflecting off of the fairing.

You are welcome. Somebody has to do it.

I took the photo. It was my trip ... with my Dad ... in my mate's impeccably maintained machine. It was flown conservatively and, I believe, competently.
I guess if I could have had somebody else paying I would have taken a B407, H125 or any number of machines but .... it got the job done, and we had a good time.

Check out https://www.verticalmag.com/calendars/, you might find something more to your taste.

Cheers,

One of those “Square cross tubes in a round hole” situations I guess......
