Croatia buys Israeli F-16s

Zagreb Croatia is to replace its squad of ageing MiG-21 fighters with as many as 12 Israeli-modified F-16 jets as it seeks to bolster its defences against its Russian-backed neighbour Serbia.

The $500 million deal is the largest struck by Croatia since it split from Serb-led Yugoslavia in the bloody 1991-95 war.

Croatia, a Nato member, is caught up in a mini arms race with Serbia, which recently received six used Russian MiG-29 fighter jets. (AP)

Have always been aware the Israeli's modify (quite heavily) the jets they received from USA, France etc, normally with Israeli avionics and missiles. What are the specific mods to the F16 though?

On that subject, are these particular F-16s NATO-compatible?

Assuming they are going to hold onto their highly modified F-16Is, Israel does also Have a large fleet of F-16A/B/C/Ds, many in storage.
