Hi.
Does anyone know how much is the “take home” amount for an expat captain?
Thanks and Cheers

Didn’t know they were taking DEC.

It seems that they are taking experienced FO from local carriers and doing a fast track upgrade process, but who knows, they have quite a plan to grow.

Local Narrowbody Capt. pay is in the area of U$ 7-8k monthly after tax, not sure if for being expat some extra bennies might be offered. There are several of them at Latam and they get the same stuff as everybody does, that kinda sets the tone locally.

A friend of mine just joined “Rocksmart”; it’s a very basic ULC, in expansion, airline, that means NO additives: no ZED, no food, no perks. PF send to do the refueling during the walk around, too!
Take-home depends on your position, seniority and hours you fly; normal schedule is 6 days on, 4 days off; no floating base or Expat-oriented-commuting Rosters, so you WILL live in Santiago and, as requiered by law, only have 2 weeks vacations a year.
The good news: Santiago de Chile is a mix of living in Central to Northern Europe; climate is nice, not too hot and not too cold; it’s close to a lot of adventure year round. It’s fairly safe and very clean, environmentally oriented; corruption is the lowest in S. America and the schedules are not bad at all!
As the area of operation is very challenging, training is VERY good, emphasis is made on making good and safe decisions and maintaining basic stick and rudder skills!
Bad news: you can’t work in Chile if you don’t speak Spanish/castellano or are not from a Latin-American country that allowed you to reside in Chile . Also, you will have to pass ALL exams with the local authority and, to protect the market for the locals, there will never be a convalidation of a foreign license.
To sum it up, if you are after quick money, JetSmart Chile is not for you. If you are looking for a good place to settle and grow old, Chile is a great option and JetSmart is looking!
Hope that helps...

I've been to Santiago a lot of times with my current employer, Santiago is a nice city but tends to be on the expensive side in comparison to other South American cities, so, any idea on what is the take home pay for an expat DEC?, I would like a change in scenery, Thanks.

I’m told before Taxes basic is $5.3 million (Pesos) not sure what that is in USD. That’s up to 70 hours, but with 80 and 16 work days a month you’re supposed to get around $6.2; taxation is depending on your marriage status and kids, but my buddy tells me to plan on 22-24%. Not seen any documentation on that though, the company is supposed to do that for you...
I hear it’s slightly above market. It’s LATAM that dictates everything there...
Hope that helps...

5.3 million pesos is about 8900usd, 6.2mil about 10400usd, I searched JetSmart’s website but I couldn’t find anything related to A320 Pilot jobs.
Eagle, I’ve also seen you writing in the Vietnam Airlines threads, I’ve also given the VNA option a lot of thought, if you don’t mind can you PM me with your thoughts about it?
Anyhow, thanks for the info on JetSmart.
