Manchester hit hard by Monarch collapse, around 1.6 million seats in 2017.

Have you got the NCL figure?

I think it's only airports that are Level 3 co-ordinated that are published. I believe Newcastle is only Level 2 so is not published.

Level 3 airports as follows:-
LHR
LGW
LCY
LTN
STN
BHX
MAN
BRS

I notice BHXDME didn't include BHX, which was slightly odd if it is a level 3 airport.
How did their available seats compare?

Like MAN, BHX will presumably be feeling the effect of the MON demise.

BHX report not yet available
It will be way down on S17 due to Monarch the impact of which is a lot bigger than at MAN
Once it is published I will post the details

BRS applied to the DfT to designated Level 3 coordinated for the summer season only. The application was approved beginning summer 2018.

The reason is to enable the airport to more effectively comply with its night flight movements and noise quota count limits.

Monarch S17 MAN = 1,314,332 Seats
Monarch S17 BHX = 1,355,128 Seats
Difference = 40798 seats or 1316 per week

Doesn’t seem to be a huge difference in terms of ‘making up the loss’ for that carrier alone.

but the effect at BHX will be greater due to the much smaller pax figures there versus MAN...I think is what he means.

Possibly. But in terms of a seat for seat loss, it does seem that at 700,000 seats down, BHX has had a harder time refilling the lost capacity.

But one of the biggest and glaring losses for me at BHX is Flybe. Down 223,501 Seats in S18. In the table of changes, it gives a reduction of AMS by 5 weekly, 7 weekly to ABZ and the termination of LIG/RNS, but 223,501 Seats just seems one hell of a hit!

Headline number is down 5.7% which is amazing bearing in mind we have lost 1,355,128 Monarch seats

We now have

1. FlyBe = 1,655,820 (down 223,501) – let’s hope they survive ?

2. Ryanair = 1,648,836 (up 11,079) – so close to becoming BHX ‘s biggest airline seats wise must be pax wise

3.Tui = 1,249,671 (up 207,666) – great programme in 2018

4. Jet2 = 1,239,288 (up 639,815) – thank god for Jet2, hoping for even more seats in 2019

5. Thomas Cook = 753,020 (up 103,117) – great programme in 2018

6. Emirates = 611,864 (up 68,557) – hopefully the third flight will be back at some point

7. Lufthansa = 433,482 (up 5,047)

8. Aer Lingus = 352,232 (up 16,676)

9. KLM = 317,392 (down 6,540)

10. Eurowings = 236,224 (up 56,424)
