Aer Lingus 50th

This Saturday, 24th March 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of the Tuskar Rock Air Tragedy.

Aer Lingus-Irish International Vickers Viscount Type 803 EI-AOM, “St. Phelim”, operating flight 712 from Cork to London Heathrow with 4 crew and 57 passengers on board crashed into the Irish Sea near Tuskar Rock with the loss of all on-board.

Should anyone be interested, here's a 3 part radio documentary produced to mark the 50th anniversary of the crash from the perspective of one family.

The producer's grandfather was a passanger on the flight, while two of his grand uncles worked in senior roles within Aer Lingus at the time. Each part is aboout 30min long and touches on the impact of the crash on the family, the initial investigation, finger pointing and more recent review of the accident.
