Is 163 cm ( 5'4 ) suitable to become an airline pilot? Can i fit into the cockpit of planes such as a320/a330/a350/a380/ b777 and so on?.

The 2 shortest ones in this pic managed to land a 747 yesterday. Their feet were about 2 inches short of the rudder pedals so 163cm should be OK.

FWIW BA had the following requirement for applicants for the last round of the Future Pilot Programme.

Height must be between 1.57m (5'2") and 1.90m (6'3").

Oh btw, the meaning of fit that i m trying to imply is to be able to make full rudder deflection and also reach the engine fire controls which is usually at the back of the overhead control panel. I couldnt find a proper simulator to find out whether i can fit or not as the place i am living in doesnt have this kind of simulator places.

Agreed, I’ve flown with plenty of folks of that sort of height on the 747/744/777 and they have been fine....On those types there’s plenty of adjustment available in both the seat and the rudder pedals, and if it’s overhead fire handles on the likes of the 744 that you are worried about then many a 744 pilot has banged their heads on the circuit breaker panel (which is aft and higher than those handles) when getting in or out of the seat...

The lady pilots of about 5' 2" coped okay with the FKR100/70 and that was designed by the tallest nation in Europe. At 6' 3" I found one or two flight decks a bit tight!

Good luck
