Though courses require a min 15hrs in the aircraft, is this generally achievable or should far more hours be expected (at £400+/hr!)

It's generally achieveable, I don't know of anyone who took longer. On a normal course, you should be competent in the SIM before you see the aircraft so it's just getting used to bouncing around.

it's achievable if you've got the hang of it in the SIM,MEIR syllabus should cover it all.

If you do a CBIR you only need 10 hours.

^ only 10hrs for the whole course or 10hrs in the aircraft plus X amount of hours in an FNPT?

If you do a CBIR you only need 10 hours.

A little disingenuous don't you think? How do you get to a point where you only require '10 hours training at an ATO so approved'?

Ok, I'll rephrase. For the CBIR at an ATO, the minimum number of multi hours allowed is 10. What you NEED depends on how good you are!

(The OP was only asking about the multi element of the course)
