I am interested in applying for an SO pilot job at Cathay. I've been knocked back 2 times already but if I told them I'm willing to pay for my training would that help? HKA have also knocked me back. It's my dream to be an airline pilot.

Don't think you have the proper mental acuity required for the position. That said, I have some great property in Florida you might be interested in.

Actually, I hear from others, that there are "coaches" in Australia (some currently employed by CX) that "assist" persons like yourself (i.e. show now innate ability toward the profession other than "wow that looks like fun and grandma will get free travel). They charge big bucks to "coach" wanabees like yourself on how to get through the selection process and interviews as they have inside information on the process and questions etc.
On this point and with great thanks to these "coaches" , CX ends up with candidates not really suitable for the position and would never have been accepted if they were not "coached".

Does that not make everyone feel great and satisfied that some of the persons operating these aircraft did not have the initial aptitude to qualify.

Hi Flex88,

ive already done extensive interview coaching but I'm open to finding a new coach, how would I contact the person you mentioned? I've heard many aren't happy and are leaving right now so I'm hoping now is my chance to get in.

You really can't make this stuff up. Maybe you should be a fireman since you seem to enjoy running into burning buildings.

Ok. Really everyone, stop feeding the troll. It's probably DP sitting in his office filling his day, as there really isn't anything of importance for him to do anymore.

If you want a great CX pilot to
mold you into a future yes man.
You will have to show up with short shorts and do everything he commands.

Unfortunately with the rate people are leaving this place, he might just get in on his 25th try. :ugh:

Great, as you seem ready to pay then roll the dice like most of the crew at most any airline. You have 2 choices.
1. Join the military at the pilot level
2. Pay for and get PPL, Multi Eng endorsement, CPL + IR then get hours for ATPL then apply to hundreds of airlines.

This is the way most all airline pilots begin their careers. So, roll the dice - go to the local pilot training facility and tomorrow, you are on your way.. :D

JetPilot11, since you've been knocked back a few times, might I suggest a review of Dr. Seuss' seminal work on career choices "Maybe I Should Fly a Jet! Maybe I Should be a Vet!" It has excellent illustrations, sage advice on the many opportunities to which you could apply your untapped potential, and it rhymes. Quite the trifecta. It's available for download on any platform and there is even a video version should a book prove too taxing. Rumours abound of a massive on-line role-playing-game tie-in with a major software developer so you can try out each career before committing yourself and, as a bonus, once you've tried all the jobs there should be a secret "Interview Bloodbath" section with a variety of (purchase-able and upgrade-able) weapons.
