Tired of spending money on R&D and a keen interest in hiring lawyers?

Unclear what the JV involves

Hmmmm - A joint venture usually implies a specific project rather than a corporate merger.

I hope they aren't allowed to fiddle with Brazil's defence market. "Thank you, that will be a million dollars. What was the question again?"

But, can Boeing now sell the Super Tucano? Collaboration on the 797? New launch site in Brazil that it has been interested in?

Anybody who has done business in Brazil knows how corrupt everything there is, I doubt if Boeing will be able to "fiddle" with anything, other than with some Brazilian "cooperation".
This should be interesting to see how it works down the road.

So, back to A & B duopoly and get the western plane makers in strong position to hold off Chinese and Russian competitors for the next decade at least.

Embraer and Boeing will base their JV on a newly created company, of which Boeing will own 51%. That company will only handle the commercial side of Embraer; the military and corporate sides will remain solely under Brazilian control.

It would come as a great surprise if there wasn't some kind of scope clause on the JV, along the lines of 'research, develop, manufacture and market commercial aircraft with a seating capacity between X and Y'

So, no, Boeing won't be selling Super Tucanos or Phenoms.

Could this explain why US put a 29% tax on Bombardier aircraft?

Boeing did want 90% (Brazilian Govt owns 10%)

Another missed op. Point AB
