Good interview here with the airport MD seems to be doing a good job down there with a good team of staff

Wonder will we see US flights return in 2018/2019 - surely good opportunity with Norwegian
I see Ryanair have reintroduced knock Bristol route for winter 2018 operating 3 weekly weds /fri/sun
This will be a nice addition to passenger numbers over the winter !

Knock were exaggerating just a little with their 'exceeding 750k passengers for the first time' PR release last month. I had wondered why they hadn't included the actual final 2017 figure in the press release. It was 749,477.

It will be interesting to see what impact the takeover of flybe has on operations at the airport, possibly good news for the Manchester route but maybe not so much for the Birmingham and Edinburgh routes. The airport have published a news story welcoming the takeover but its questionable whether the new owners will have much interest in a peripheral airport like Ireland West.

I'd fully agree with SealinkBF, this will be the acid test for the routes it offers to EDI, MAN and BHX.
Though if the lens through which Flybe is viewed is one of which routes offer most connecting traffic, then that could have implications.
If the routes are viable Flybe will stick around, or Aer Lingus Regional will enter.. I think it will be ok.
