Just a quick question.
What is a "National Licence compliant with ICAO standards" ?
On there website they state that one of the requirements is an EASA licence or the licence above. Thanks.

Any other ICAO CPL/ATPL licence (for instance a FAA, Canadian, South African etc etc ). Believe it or not there are some commercial licences out there that do not meet ICAO standards.

Basically they are wanting people who the IAA can issue validations to as you may not have an EASA licence. So perhaps ask the IAA if your licence can be validated. The process then would be for you to obtain the EASA licence while already employed and working for Ryanair using your validation. As I believe these are only issued for a years duration and while they can be renewed they are in place for this reason and not to be used/renewed indefinitely in order to avoid obtaining the EASA licence.

Thanks for that. Just one more thing. I guess one would have to have the 737-900 on ones current licence to get a validation ?
Unfortunately I am a Bus driver ! Maybe its better to get the 14 subjects in the bag and then do the test when doing the rating with Ryan Air.
Anybody who has gone that way ? Thanks guys

I just checked the website and it’s not required to be rated already to have your licence validated.

Under the non type rated Captain advert it mentions you can still have a non EASA licence and get a validation.

My advice if you’re actually interested is to simply contact their recruitment team and ask them.

Good luck with this , recruitment generally call the shots , and the free flow of information is strictly off limits!

As one of the many pilots leaving RYR, all I can say is that’s what their requirements state, and if they can’t be bothered to reply to prospective Pilots then that’s probably part of the reason they’re desperate to recruit.

Better jobs out there in terms of more money, better perks, better treatment from management and based closer to home.
