Evening All

Having worked for an airline sometime ago, I used to hear over the ops radio when the aircraft had just got airborne and after reporting the load details would follow by saying Diagonal 15 or Diagonal 40.

Diagonal would be the time they went airborne, so diagonal 40 would mean they were airborne at 40 minutes past the hour.

Almost---

Diagonal is the same as saying 'slash' (common in the USA), or oblique - basically it's saying the backslash sign '/'

Pilot might say '1630 diagonal 45' i.e. push at 1630, airborne at 1645 - or as it's written: 1630/45
