According to a Bloomberg report, Airbus says that 30% of its Pratt & Whitney-powered A320neo aircraft are affected by a new engine glitch. The issues supposedly are new; most recent batches of P&W engines affected. A320neo customer Indigo Airlines reported three inflight shutdowns as well as aborted takeoffs.

This is the EASA EAD on the subject (https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/20180209EASAAD20180041E.pdf).......hit the inbox today via UK CAA, issued 9th Feb.

I'm wondering how many operators/routes are affected by the ETOPS ban.

If 30% of P&W-powered aircraft are affected, that's only about 13% of the A320neo fleet - nowhere near a third.

Dave reading between the lines it is P&W powered A/C delivered to date.

43 engines on 32 aircraft, they know what the problem is, and aircraft after a certain serial number aren't affected. 55 delivered engines which can't yet be installed but obviously an easier and quicker job as they're sitting in crates at the factory rather than on wings all over the world.

Multiple sources reporting suspect engines are "all from the most recent batches to come off the engine-maker’s production line".
