So QR are starting new flights SYD-CBR-SYD today and I interested to hear how they are crewing these on what is probably the shortest 77W route on the planet.I assume new crew in Sydney? Then sitting on the ground for 5 hrs in Canberra or overnighting.

QR906 DOH0810 – 0615+1SYD0725+1 – 0825+1CBR 77W D
QR907 CBR1345 – 1445SYD1555 – 2230DOH 77W D

That’s one very short 777 flight with the majority of block time on the ground in Sydney. Last time I did the route in a Virgin 737 it was 21 minutes wheels up to wheels down!

Transit pax only? Is it still not allowed for foreign airlines to take on domestic pax on a tag sector to an International flight?

My guess is the crew will operate it as a shuttle much as EK do with BKK-HKG-BKK and the crew will go to the lounge for the transit. Although depending on the timing a 20min flight would be within the duty limits with rest on DOH-SYD but they'd be asking for trouble doing it this way. Shuttle is more likely

Yes Transit only. Only Jetstar operates some tag-on domestic 787 flights and can carry domestic pax as they have a domestic AOC. Still a no go for foreign carriers.

Yes I thought DOH-SYD-CBR would be overkill , Crew would be walking off with there eyes closed at Canberra!

I think crew will operate syd, go to hotel, next day operate the shuttle to cbr and back, and third day return to doha
