Hi all,

Does anyone have an idea of how long FAA take to respond/make a decision on a deferred medical? Deferral was made due my answering 'yes' to q 18v re. a DUI from 30 years ago.

Thanks in advance.

If it was a single incident more than 5 yrs ago, and the BAC was less than 0.15, you shouldn't have been deferred.

If >5 yrs and the BAC was >.15 or if it isn't available, a call to the regional flight surgeon seems to often result in an "ok to issue"

If it's more involved than that, or if the AME has the gestalt that you're not safe to fly because of chemical issues, you will likely need to see a HIMS AME, and submit an airman personal statement for review by the Feds.

Thanks for the quick reply, and explanation.

BAC was between 0.08 and 0.09 (limit is 0.08 where I live). It's a one-off, not so much as a parking offence since.

I hope I *am* OK to fly, because I've held a UK/JAA/EASA ATPL since 1993!

I'll give the RFS a call.

International and federal regional flight surgeon number is
(405) 954-4832
His name is Stephen Verronneau

(Pretty nice guy, for a Canuck)
