Just landed and asked customs guys in HQ and they confirmed that it is back to the old system: Booze and ciggies as before, no duty, no freaggin trip to T3. Of course no email from our esteemed leaders...again, not surprised at all, loss of face anyone?
Cheers to all

If it's the case then a huge thank you to everyone who wrote, complained, researched and took the time to not let this go. I will raise a glass to everyone!

This will be considered as pay review complete. Guess it could be worse.

Having asked the ladies behind the desks it is definitely back to normal.
Just waiting for the email from the Bouncy Castle claiming that they managed to change it after a hard fought battle and how wonderful they are ;)

Spot on. Classic management tactic of take something away, make it look like it was all out of their control and they’ve fought with every fibre of their being to give it back to us. Make themselves look like heros to the great unwashed masses and we’ll call that your pay rise. Regardless of potential bumper profits. Don’t forget they still haven’t set a profit share target, so effectively that is out of the window too.

Confirmed. Can't wait to see how management will spin this!

Not necessarily. Several years ago, we received 2 weeks profit share despite NOT making target. That fact that the haven't set one for this financial year does not equate to no bonus, it just gives them even more flexibility than they'd normally have.

Meet me behind the bike sheds and I'll wager 100 dits we get 2 weeks! ;)

We all know you are not so good with numbers but this time I’m sure you’re right.

Emirates has put itself between a rock and a hard place.

It will, no doubt, state that it cannot afford either a pay rise or a profit share.

On the other hand, it cannot NOT afford a profit share AND a substantial pay rise if it wants to check the attrition rate and attract sufficient new joiners to service the status quo, let alone further expansion.

We hear all sorts of statements from employees regarding profit share and pay rise each and every year. This year, Emirates should take very serious note.

Back on topic, this thing about no duty on smokes and booze is temporary, only until they figure out a better way to collect the duties, so stock up on every trip!!

My thoughts exactly!! They can’t be trusted, that’s been proven over and over again. So brace for impact...

There will be neither a pay rise nor a "profit share" ever. Dont you people realize where this company is going towards? If I fly with people from certain countries who are happy to fly 95h every month with no expectations at all, shows me that ek has reached its goal. There are enough pilots who would even fly without salary if they join ek. I would be even surprised if they will be a 3% step in the salary. Ek will get any pilot at any time to make their aircraft flying - qualified/experienced or not! The queue is long and those who have imaginary expectations will be replaced by those who dont have. The exchange has started long time ago...

White Sausage,

GMC1500 wasn't just speculating. Login to your Crew Pulse, it says right at the top. "Customs Restrictions Temporarily Lifted"

I agree, don't expect anything for a long time. They are seeing just how low they can go without a mass exodus. The fact that a target hasn't even been set when we are looking at a massive profit tells me that there won't be anything.

Slight correction - The reason there was no target set was because last year the target was 7.2bn and 2.5bn was achieved compared to a profit the previous year of 8bn profit (7.7 target)

The lack of target was not as a result of ‘massive profit’ at the time - in relative terms that is.

Always interesting to read the posts of those who are ‘certain’ we are not getting anything, happens every year with the usual suspects - yet since 2003 we have missed step twice 2009 & 2017, and since 2008 profit share four out of 10 times
2009, 2012, 2013 & 2017

Not getting into the threshold/package debate, we are way behind & I’m not defending the Co. but for the most part the doomsdayers have been wrong yet somehow keep comin back for more.

I’m cautiosly optimistic of a small profit share 2-4, step / raise anyone’s guess.

I should point out that if the 78-92-88 threshold was taken into account along with everything else we are down double digits in salary in the last 10 years - a disgrace, but we know that already.

Helmet strap tightened! 😯

Fliion, happy to be proven wrong of course but when you see retention of experienced crew is clearly not a priority anymore, it isn't hard to draw such conclusions.

The ‘ban’ is only temporarily lifted until a more streamlined means of collecting the duty, etc is found. The current process is extremely inefficient and involves a fair amount of extra work for the Customs personnel.

Not even an e-mail? Oh wait, just a quietly placed "update" on the portal. And still trying to blame it on customs I see.... What a sad bunch of pathetic little people that they are.

I would say we are down double digits in the last year alone, let alone last 10.
