I reckon there must be a lot of blokes now in their late 40s who are called Jason because their mum fancied Peter Wyngarde.

(Or maybe their dad did as well ;))

Jason Bourne ? ;-) I used to frequent a gym in Sth Ken in the 80's where a good few 'luvvies' were members, some to keep fit, some to use the sauna. I'm pretty sure that Wyngarde was there. He was a regular at a shooting club bar not so far away.

I particularly remember watching Peter Wyngarde in "Rupert of Hentzau" in the early '60s, also in an episode of "The Saint" (The Man Who Liked Lions) and in "The Avengers" (A Touch of Brimstone).

in "The Avengers" (A Touch of Brimstone)

I think I was watching that one on YouTube some months ago. The delightful Diana Rigg...

Ah yes, The Avengers and Men of a Certain Age. I never quite got over a very early crush on Honor Blackman.

I hope I'm not the only sad oldie who remembers this ad (on TV as well):

Ironically, he was gay despite being marketed as a ladies man.

His life history was quite intriguing; he was always very evasive about his date of birth, ancestry and was untraceable for chunks of his life.

Perhaps he was a spook ? Or was living in Tangiers ? ;-) On the Guardian link, 2nd photo (all in leather), Wyngarde reminds me somehow of Yootha Joyce, minus the moustache of course!

In that picture he looks like he was pleased to see them.

OMG! He does! That’s potentially another possible twist in Peter Wyngarde’s mysterious persona.

He was actually Yootha Joyce!
:-D :-D :-D
