hi all,
could someone please remind me what hassel and freda stand for. One of those late night things thats just bugging me now.

Errrrr....no I can't remember either......checks notes....

FREDA - In cruise checks

Fuel, Radio, Engine, D.I., Altimeter

HASELL - Pre-stall practice checks

Height, Airframe, Security, Engine, Location, Lookout.

You need:
Height: above minimum safe
Airframe: flaps up and indicating, trim in takeoff-band (if necessary)
Security: no lose articles
Engine: Fuel contents and balance, Ts and Ps and RPM, include electrics if necessary
Location: clear of Airfields, Built up areas, Controlled airspace and cloud by 1000', plus axtras if spinning,
Lookout turn as required

Fuel contents and balance
Radios as req'd
Engine Ts and Ps and RPM
DI synchronised
Altimeter set correctly
Location
