Loose rivets

My problem last night was a tab on a W7 laptop while using FF 57 which works well. FF is set as the default browser.
It comes up each time FF is called - as a second tab - and tells me to download FF. Then it has about 3 pages of fluff-all about itself on a mostly black background. I can see no way to make it un-subscribe or just go away.
Any ideas how to stop this?
The tab has "Firefox by default shares data" written on it! What on Earth are they thinking? Mind you, nothing compared to the groans below.
