Hello - planning to fly a single (piston, C206) from EUR to Bangalore, India. One way. The most inconvenient leg is from Oman across the gulf. Would like to stay 'costal' along Iran and Pakistan. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Jay

Take Jim's advice. I did many years on long range search and rescue and the vast majority of the time we never found anyone.

I flew along that coast yesterday (HYD-LHR) and it looks very inhospitable. Desert then sea with no green bits in between. Not too bad for forced landings.

Forced landing - then what?
Death by dehydration?

Yes, possibly. I would hope that one would have some supplies and maybe have transmitted a Mayday at some point. Better than ditching anyway.

If your doing it for fun go for it! If doing it just to relocate aircraft as has been said box it!

Flew there too yesterday (DAC-RUH), quite a bunch of ships in that ''channel''. A maritime radio and a dinghy will mostly guarantee you survival. You can re-sell the dinghy to Somali pirates or refugees.

quite a bunch of ships in that ''channel''.

Yes, but some might be destined for the ship-breakers at Gaddani!

Lots of hulks visible on google earth on the N/S beach west of Karachi.

There is an airport about halfway between Muscat and Karachi.
