A;ways astonished at how quickly some Ppruner is able to answer queries about my assorted sightings and over flights over the Camberley area. Today was walking the dog early afternoon along the Blackwater River park and a very unusualy turbofan noise really caught my attention as it sounded very loud and very low in an area frequented by such beasts but all at 6000 or above in or out of LHR.

Any how the source of the noise appeared and seemed to be a C17 or whatever the RAF call them flying low -2000ft ? on an easterly heading -straight towards LHR but as I realised later possibly straight overhead Sandhurst RMA.

Was I right and although we ge ta lot of visitors in and out and over Sandhurst its usually helis or para dropping Islanders/Caravans. Low level heavy stuff is Farnborough weeks only as a rule?

Any offers

I saw it too, from Finchampstead. I think it was somewhat higher than you suggest. I wondered if it was an A400M from the sound? We shall see...

Someone on another group provided the answer: A400M ZM415 at FL80.

Not sue I love it, couple of times one's been climbing out over here, the resonance has been getting close to painful!

many thanks- I only saw it from behind and to the side so the tail and upswept rear fuselage was the main thing . Also if it was visible too from Finchamstead it was further away than i thought and of course higher.
It certainly does make a very unusual noise really attention getting.

where was it going -any one know that

Thanks as always to the PPrune Spotters corner super fast ID squad

Very distinctive sound. Been doing circuits around Prestwick lately.

See flight. Eventual destination was Exeter after Northolt. Later in the evening flew back to Brize Norton
