View Full Version : New rules for anti collision lighting?

I've been using the new bridge over the Forth for a couple of months now, and now that the darker mornings and nights are coming in at pace, I've noticed that the old bridge with it's two towers has a light tower and red anti collision light at the summit of each.
However, the new bridge with its three towers does have a small lighting tower on each tower, but only the south tower actually has an anti collision light. The middle tower and the north tower are both dark.

The new bridge has considerably taller towers than the old bridge, so how come the centre and north tower are OK to be without any anti-collision lights. Have the regulations changed so that it's only the nearest obstacle to the airfield that needs to be lit?

Or did someone forget to fit them?

The regulations (specifically the ANO) haven't changed in respect of enroute obstacle lighting requirements.
