Hello All,
I'm now seriously looking at my training options (going modular) as I believe I now have the money to start.
Something I've just thought about though is the cost of a Type Rating. I spoke to someone at JetTraining who told me their A320 and B737 NG course costs £12,400 + VAT for ground school and sim, and 6600EUR (inclusive of VAT) for the 6 take offs and landings in the aircraft.

This equates to approximately £21,000 all told. Whilst I was speaking to the gentleman on the phone, he told me that if I was looking to apply to Ryanair (which I guess is where the majority start), not to do my TR and instead do it through Ryanair as they wouldn't touch me if I already held a type rating.

On a bit of further investigation, I found OAA do the Ryanair type rating course at a cost of nearly £32,000!

This is pretty much the same cost as the modular course I want to do, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas or tips etc that may help me save money?

Thank you

Fair enough. Sorry, APC?
So if I left my school with an MCC/JOC, I'd have to do it again with them? :(
Indeed, I was pretty happy with that

Thank you

If I remember correctly, out of the 800 cadets that go through Ryanair's assessment each year, less than 10% did the APC course.

I saw an advert from BAA training for A320 type rating offering EUR10k back if you do the type rating with them and do not secure a job in a year, I'm not sure what the catch is though.

So a partial refund if you failed to gain employment. I think the standard to achieve will be reasonably high.
You will need to read the contract carefully as I suspect there will be a number of exclusion clauses.
Remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Is this their "EASA Quality TR" that keeps popping up here (Whatever that means, other than it isn't approved by them!!!)?

I have no idea, they do EASA and DGCA, I don’t know the cost for the EASA one but DGCA one is advertised.
