No fatalities - 2 with non-life threatening injuries.

Enemy action not a factor.

Two troops injured when Marine Osprey crashes in Syria (http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/flashpoints/2017/09/29/marine-osprey-crashes-in-syria/)

How does one know it was a B? The first two reports I saw on the net made it clear that the DoD had not specified which model, but that may have been the reporter later realizing that she hadn't asked ... is Marine Times leaping to conclusions, or do they have better and newer information?
(PS: no fatalities, so silver lining to the cloud) .

Rugged bird.....

“...At the Pentagon, officials speaking on background said that the aircraft was an Osprey, but they would not confirm whether it was a Marine MV-22 Osprey or the Air Force version -- the CV-22. The officials also said the accident occurred in Syria, but they did not give a specific location. Although the incident was described as a "hard landing," Fox News cited defense officials as saying that the aircraft was destroyed on impact and they expressed amazement that no other troops or crew on board were injured.......”

My Marine friend has just returned from the AO as a recon Gunnie Sgt and said the consensus there is they'd rather chance a Taliban firing squad than fly in these things!

V-22 is still the safest rotary in the Navy/Marines and much safer than what it replaced. Remember this is the service that runs multi-billion dollar warships into plodding commercial ships. Your friend is suicidal if he preferred any other means of transport.
