Can any Flight deck working here tell me if there are any jobs for type-rated crew going ?
What's the Salary/Routes like ? Are you busy ?
Thanks

There are jobs available for type-rated 747 F/Os with a CAA/JAA licence and the usual 'right to live and work in the EU'.

Salary is £40K, allowances £1.50 (net) per duty hour. B&B Hotac is provided. Certainly not the greatest money around!

There are 5 a/c and (supposedly) 20 crews, though there are certainly not 20 F/Os yet. The company currently has a very blinkered attitude towards long-haul ops and is not up-to-speed on world-wide operations. Ops and crewing leaves a lot to be desired. Progress is being made but at a snails pace.

Flying is hugely varied, a mix of short-haul and long-haul. There are too many night-stops on minimum rest, but there have also been some great long layovers (Seychelles. Mauritius, Bermuda, Jamaica). The crews (tech and cabin) are generally a great bunch of people and socially it is very good fun. The work can be extremely frustrating at times, but it is certainly not boring.

There is the potential for the 747 operation to develop into a very interesting operation. There are some major problems to be ironed out, but it is early days yet. There is plenty or room for growth and commands should not be too long in coming.

There is a long thread on the cabin-crew forum about the company.

Not sure about the 737. Rumour says that that fleet is currently undercrewed for their forthcoming workload, so there may be openings, Transfers are likely between the 73 and 74 fleets, probably commencing this winter. If you want to send a cv, personnel officer is [email protected]

The 737 is indeed undercrewed. Unless you ask the beancounters that is. Even if the-ones-who-have-some-idea could employ any more pilots, I couldn't begin to guess at the criteria they'd use.

Use this Crew Numbers Calculation

Add up all your duties over a period of one week. This will include all trips (including DHD's), training (sim, crm, etc) SBY's, rest days.
Divide by 4 (number of days a crew is actually available to work each week averaged over a year.

Multiply the answer by 2 (B737 pilot crew compliment). This will give you the number of bodies required to run the operation.

Then factor in Trng Capt's availability ie 2 TRE's are available for 50% of the flying operation they therefore count as one body.

This calculation will give you a basis to work from.

Any info on F/Es vacancies and requirements gratefully sought. Understand through the grapevine you have to be ex BA/VS. Is this true? Plenty of other good chaps out there looking for work and type rated.
