Hong Kong, Taiwan...ICAO.?

Hey guys,

I want to have some guidance.

1) is Hong Kong an ICAO country.?
2) is Hong Kong pilot license an ICAO license.?
3) if not ICAO, then will this license and it's endorsements be recognised else where.?
4) if not then will the hours be counted to your total experience else where like in middle East if I choose to come back.?

I am currently flying A320 in my country (India) and looking to shift to Hong Kong. However what worries me is that my efforts might be wasted if Hong Kong is not ICAO because then it won't be recognised anywhere. Please clarify.

China is an ICAO member state and HK is included as a result, although it has it's own Civil Aviation Department. Hong Kong is not a country, it is a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. HK will issue licences on the basis of a pilot's home licence. These are not endorsements, they are full licences. However, very few agencies will issue a licence based on the HK converted licence, so it's important to keep your home licence current.

Another issue is that the HK CAD are so far behind the times, other agencies will not recognise HK CAD initial issue licences for conversion.

Taiwan is not an ICAO member state due to the protests of the PRC.
