Oops. Looks like the no 2 was on the wrong side for that pass! So no 1 needed to give him more room, or a greater stagger needed to allow the second aircraft to scoop safely?

Apparently a formation take off resulting in one of the aircraft striking and dis-masting a barge that was tied up to a dock. There were people on the shore nearby. The river Rhone seems to be up to 200 meters wide in that area but not very straight. Formation take off perhaps unwise?
