Hello everybody,

I am a holder of an EASA CPL(A) F-ATPL(A) and because I might be moving to Australia, I'm looking into the procedure to convert my license. I understand there is a 2 course written examination, which is only for the CPL, the F-ATPL won't be recognized. Will I have to go via an agent/school or something or you can sign up for the exams on your own? Does anyone here knows what are the exams like, if there are any specific syllabus/books I 'll have to study?
There is also an IR exam, for which I also dont know much.
As for the check flight, I assume that must be similar to Europe..

Any info is welcome!

You don't need any school to sign you off, for the written exams......

Overseas Convert | Advanced Flight Theory (http://aft.com.au/cms/?page_id=125) look at this site for theory and advise about exams

If you have an instrument rating in europe you will need the irex exam before sitting your flight test (instrument)

You will need to complete the IREX exam ... Bob Tait's Aviation: IREX (http://online.bobtait.com.au/course/index.php?categoryid=12) look at this site.

The flight stuff is similar to europe .....you will need assessing by a flight school for the flight component of the test

The exams are no where near as painful as the easa exams .... the irex is a tricky exam
