Well I know it's from the Daily Fail... (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4820358/RAF-pilot-draws-penis-skies-Lincolnshire.html), but... :p

What makes you think it was a "he?"

Some people are always looking for the opportunity to be offended :ugh:

Not offended in the slightest, just wondered why anyone in 2017 would assume it was a he?

If it was a chap it would have been bigger.

You're lucky. There isn't much to recommend in Lincolnshire, and Conisngsby is nowhere near top of a very short list.

Being '2017' may make it more likely that a randomly-selected Typhoon pilot would be female, but still less than a 10% chance. And this isn't a randomly-selected Typhoon pilot, it's one with a puerile* sense of humour. Being '2017' means that females can be as puerile as they like, and some surely are (yes, including at least one Typhoon pilot), but even in these enlightened days sniggering about bodily functions and scrawling crude images of genitalia a few pages ahead in someone's notebook remain largely male pastimes. DG is on firm (snigger) probabilistic ground...

[* boylike (Latin). What terrible gender stereotyping!]

But still making an assumption...

This says more about you, the 'observer', than it does about the pilot. Hilarious exposure of how you think. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

But in this case, I'd be willing to bet the Typhoon pilot knew exactly what he was doing. :E

What's wrong with assumptions? We make them all the time during our social interactions. For instance, even after extensive D&I training, I still assume that if I speak English to a stranger in England then they will understand me and reply in English. No doubt someone out there will find that a terribly regressive attitude, but it is one that greases the wheels of everyday life.

Or just maybe, when you see what comes after that image, the pilot was just in a set pattern on-top of Holbeach range for some pre-set training/trials purpose...

Sorry, put me in mind of Austin Powers.

Sky willies are hardly new.

Back in the glory days of the RAuxAF, someone drew one in the sky near Edinburgh - on the Sabbath. This upset some senior Jockistani god-botherer, who rang the Stn Cdr....

A little later, a squadron of (Meteors?) took off, formed up and flew across the offending item, as if to cross it out; then a couple of battle turns and back at 90° to the first pass, to make absolutely certain.

Which merely had the effect of drawing the original creation to the attention of those who hadn't noticed it earlier...:hmm:

In the mid-70s, noting the upper winds and contrail levels, the boss of the 4FTS Hunter squadron allegedly drew one, which slowly made its way across the skies over Manchester...:ok:

Brilliant - I reckon the sexless pilot could make a very good Boeing Test pilot.
When I saw the pic of the CONUS-sized Dreamliner I have to admit that my first thought was that an aeroplane would not have been the first thing that sprang to mind to 'draw' - glad to see I'm not alone.
Just imagine the scene on the flight deck as skipper looking over at the 'co' programming the FMS;
"what you doing?"
"Cock-all"

You know that all is well in the world when the RAF are drawing knobs in the sky.

Any chance of a huge pair of hooters over the Quantocks chaps ?

It's a bit cock eyed mind - one dangly bit quite a bit bigger than the other.

This is why people are leaving.

Commanders are terrified of anything appearing in the daily fail et al and make every effort to remove the fun, or anything potentially perceived as fun these days.

Well done to the journo's - that's probably a few more pilots closer to Jet2.com

Intriguing, glad to see that MFC_Fly posted the reality of the whole sortie track so theres no story, nothing to see, go home.

So even if there was a case, where does it say in Military Flying Regulations (JSP 318 etc in my day) that you cannot deliberately draw male appendages in the sky with your contrail ?

I always thought it would have made for a great family fun finale to a Red Arrows display.

"Mummy, what's that?"

"Hmm, well it certainly isn't Daddy..."
