U.S Pilot with Norwegian?

Hello,

I noticed a while back that Norwegian is hiring U.S pilots for their operations. Just to clarify, does this mean I will need to take the ATPL 14-exams? It states that they will provide 2 years to obtain EASA certification.

I find it interesting that Norwegian requires FAA ATP to EASA ATPL certification but Emirates doesn't make you do any conversion, even if you take a pilot-in-command position.

I'm not an expert in license conversion but I'm pretty sure that you have to take all the 14 exams for the EASA license. That requires a lot of studies.
I think they have no N registered airplane so you need an European license. Looks like they found a way to let you fly their planes for a maximum of two years on an FAA license until you have to convert it to an EASA one.
So my guess is if you want to keep the job longer than two years you have to study hard.

Actually you do have to get a UAE licence when you join Emirates; but it is simply a matter of taking the GCAA Air Law exam and brandishing a valid ICAO ATPL. And of course, paying the money but Emirates, at least, does that!
