Severe thunderstorm penetration in USA by an Express Jet Airlines E145 in Sept 2014. A scary situation.

Interesting to note that the crew tried to re-connect the autopilot many times while in severe turbulence and experiencing unusual attitudes. The result of automation dependence maybe when it might have been more appropriate to simply hand fly until in the clear.
The full report is available as a link in the Skybrary report. Australian crews should read about this incident as severe weather is known to occur over the continent, particularly in the Northern Wet Season.
