I heard the Pilot Recruitment manager has changed. Are they going to hire pilots with less experience?

Obi, I'm not sure why you think a change in Recruitment Management means a change in recruitment policy. EK currently holds thousands of CVs of highly qualified pilots, many with current airline commands.

The chances of lowering the entry criteria are between slim and zero, and slim just left town. Good luck anyway.

With the A340s shortly coming online Emirates will require Relief Pilots or Second Officers. I heard rumour they'd be taking on pilots with ATPL and minimum 1500 hrs, a bit like Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.

Emirates has the best deal in the world for pilots and I don't blame them if they can take on the most experienced guys they can get their hands on.

What about A320s /B737NGs, are they going to be ordering any?

The 737/ A320, is not feasible for our route structure. Emirates in the future will probably look at replacing the current A330's with more B777. The eventual plan seems to be B777, A340 (500 - 600 series) and the A380. Some A330's might stay on, as the minority fleet.

Listen out for their order at the Farnborough airshow.

Regarding Second Officers for the A340 operation, this is not the way Emirates is going. On the ultra long range flights, the crew compliment will be two Captains and two FOs. (As it stands at the moment).

Because all A330 pilots will eventually be Cross Crew Qualified to fly both types, there is no requirement for Relief Pilots.

There were rumours of a narrow body fleet about two years ago, but that is long dead. As Check 'Six' says - they do not fit in with the route structure. It is more profitable to fly an A330 to Doha with 100 pax but with 20t of freight in the holds.

The Chairman has been heard to say that the A330 is too small for some of our routes already - if you have tried travelling on staff subload tickets, you will realize that he is dead right!

I was just wondering how often Emirates are interviewing. I've been in the hold pool for nine months now and still swimming. I'm very keen to join EK if they'll have me. At 41 years old with 12,200 total, 5,000 FO 737-300 and 4,000hrs PIC A320 do you think I'll be lucky enough to get an interview soon? Cheers.:)
