Hello.

I wonder if anybody could give me any information on Blue Air and their recruitment.

I have been offered an assessment this month in Sofia for a base in Romania.

Can anybody tell me about the assessment and working conditions etc?

Many thanks.

Hey guys.

In terms of assessment layout it will be as follows;
- ATPL Test from all subjects, I felt that the majority of the questions I received were mainly operational/principles of flight, but there are varied subjects, not so many calculations which is good.
- 30 min flight on B737NG sim with no feedback. Basic T/O in heading, intercept course establish radial, maintain altitude, turning intercepting radial/ils loc and landing.
- HR interview 30 mins.

Overall thoughts:

You pay for TR on a 737 NG or Classic, whichever they assign you. TR is done in Istanbul for NG or Sofia for Classic. After TR, you will be stationed in Bucharest Romania where you will complete 200 hours of line training. After line training you will do a check and they will hire you and you will 100% be based in Romania one of their three bases. Salary is between 1400-1800eu a month gross with no benefits.

Job is not guaranteed and you will be hired if company requires it.

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I confim 60 ATPL questions (very very random questions I remember something about Stability and Instability, Fronts, Metar, Snowtam, Landing Gear System, Calculation of True Altitude, ICAO Conventions and Rules of the Air, etc) to be done just in an hour.
Group excercise togheter with all the candidates (10 of us). Difficult to get the word because of the high number of candidates. Listen to the others and don't miss the chance to say your advice or opinion when you can. The task was to discuss with the others what to take from a list of objects in order to survive in the middle of nowhere.

After that, Sim Assessment. I heard Blue Air doesn't have a standard sim assessment. It depends on the Istructor you get that day. Most important at my Assessment were manual flying skills and raw data navigation.
Interview, basically speaking about yourself and who you are.

Type Rating self sponsored (Sofia CL or Istanbul NG) + 200 hours (Bucarest). After that most probably you get hired if you have nice attitude and good skills. Romania Base. From 1300 to max 2000 euro net per month if you fly a lot.

Salary is very low. Especially if you get Bucarest Base which is expensive to live. You will never get back the Type Rating money in few years

Cheers

Hi guys,

I just heard that they are not hiring anymore after the 200 hours of line training.
At this moment the company is full of First Officers and they are putting the people in a list from which they say they will hire when they will need.
And in the meantime they are continuously doing type rating course every month, that's crazy!!
Do not accept!

No, I don't. I was told this by someone working there when I was just "enquiring" about Blue Air some months ago.

What tha hell. So you pay a lot of money. And then you end up with 200 hours which are still useless. I was lucky enough I got invited for an assessment with only 200 hours which I obtained somewhere else, but I rejected the offer because of T&C's. But with 200 hours you can still go nowhere. All I get even in a good market as the present one NO's because I do not have 500 on Type.

So DO NOT WASTE your money in Blue Air.
Especially those Joker Salaries.

Guys I confirm that they don't have any vacancies available and the same assessor told us on the assessment day.

There is a very long queue from July to now and the possibility to have a job is very rare. At least they were honest. You basically do 200h and after that you are in the waiting list forever. At least 70-80 pilots in the list. NO increasing of aircraft fleet will be on 2019. Bear in mind that with 200h you can't go anywhere, the minimum requirement is 500h on type.

Same as stated above, company NOT expanding, phasing out 73CL, replacing them for 73MAX. Holding pool for type rated FOs.

After line training (200HS), job position is not assured.

Not really. You pay for your TR like it used to be with Ryanair.

I have not taken part in the assessment, but I have a couple of friends working there. After the computer test, if you are invited expect a group excercise, HR and technical interview and eventually a simulator assessment either on the Classic or NG. As a NTR they should not give you any failure. Just basic handling and a raw data ILS. Pretty standard for NTR low hour applicants.

It's another pay 2 fly scheme with no job guarantee upon completion of the line training. Stay away if not completely desperate.
