Cessna 210 rating

Does anyone know where I can get a Cessna 210/206 rating added to my JAA CPL/IR in the UK?

Almost any Single Engine Piston aircraft is covered by the SEP Class rating. A Cessna 210 rating does not exist under JAR.

Don't tell the CAA - they'll want you to have a rating for this aeroplane too.

You just need differences training if you have a current SEP rating.

Not sure about the UK but in Australia the only requirement is for CPL to be done in a constant speed prop aircraft capable of 120kt TAS. That includes the C172RG if you want. It seems excessive to havea C210/206 requirement on the CPL.

Same in the UK - you need to do the CPL on a complex single, not necessarily something as high spec as a C210.

I think what Quicksilver means is he wants to be licenced to fly the 206/210 - however he is mistaken as you do not need a separate rating to fly it (or any other piston single with the exception of the PA46) - they are all covered by the Single Engine Piston Landplanes rating. You just need to be signed out by an instructor as having been taught the 'differences' from the type you are used to flying. This may or may not involve flying the thing - I think it is at the instructor's discretion.

Hi There

I did a 210 rating in OZ in one hour. The only reason for that was that the owner of the aircraft wouldn't allow pilots to fly it unless they were checked out. I have also heard that in the South of OZ(where I am from) that no one will private hire their beloved 210's with pilorts under 500 hours. Insurance reasons they claim. Like a catch 22 I guess...

No real point in getting rated unless, you you intend on flying one regularly. Insurance Comppanies have seen to that. I have around 800hrs in the Old Girls, great allround machine. I loved the sound of that Mcauly Prop biting the Air.
