I think the US Congress mandates a range of 99%ile Male to 1%ile Female for all US aircraft designs. If you Google for "US Anthropometric Data" you should be able to find out what this means.

Sitting height and effective reach are probably in each national physiology standard/regulation.

After getting through the national pilot training pipeline in various training aircraft with various weight/height restrictions then one may consider what is required for the F-35. It is reported to have the widest range of height & weight but what the height is? DUNNO.

Preferably RAF Limits. Something Iv always wanted to do but my height put me off (6ft4) dad was guardsmen. Thinking about going WSOp but Iv got a year wait before I can resit CBAT. I'd like to know if I could be FJ I reckon chance of streaming is high with all the F35 in order.

Well then, considering RAF go to sea being a crab is a benefit but you have to be a NON one way swimmer also. This Martin Baker PDF gives some charts but not specifically for the F-35:

Bearing in mind one has to 'get there' (F-35) via the training system this is the Martin-Baker Ejection seat info which would apply to 'wot pilot can sit in dere seat':

• 1994 - Congress directed that the JPATS would accommodate 95% of female military population.

• This translates to a 58” Standing Height and 31” Sitting Height minimum

Don't let the overall height thing put you off fella, I'm 6'5 and I got in; it's all to do with the various limb ratios. That said, I got moved out of the FJ stream as I couldn't fit into the Hawk which, at the time, was certainly the limiting factor in the FJ pipeline in terms of anthro. I fit according to RAFCAM measurements but failed a seat check quite spectacularly, it wasn't even close!

However, going Multis was the best thing that ever happened to me, don't fear it!

p.s. With manning the way it is, I'd say the chances of being streamed Multis/RPAS is just as high as FJ these days even with the F35 inbound...

It's a boring fact but one of the details in that table just shows how lazy someone was when when they made it. The Hawk T1 and T2 LP cocks (FR critical control) are not in the same place. Despite what many think the T1 and the T2 are not the same aeroplane.

Sadly for our OP the T2 cockpit is a little more restrictive than its predecessor though. We still have some beanpoles on it so don't give up trying until they have to do a winch-out test on you!

BV is correct. Height on its own isn't the critical factor; its how much of your height is in your back or your legs. Of all the dimensions, buttock knee length is probably one to watch out for. IIRC one or two of Warton's original Typhoon test pilots were outside of the aircraft anthro limits until they went through the winch out test (and the early DAs used the Mk10L seat which was a bit more cramped on buttock knee length).

We had a few established crew fail the Voyager anthros a few months back because of the rather arbitrary measurements that are in place, despite the flight deck being ENORMOUS! Nothing that a quick visit from the Doc couldn't solve though.

I can't believe the lack of anthro limits for WSOP, considering I remember when a couple of lads were chopped from AEOp because they were too tall for any of the crew seats in a Nimrod or Sentry.

I like the OP's new found ambition though - last week he wanted to be MTD or a Gunner having failed WSOp CBAT already.

Go for it mate - you may just be the 1 in 10000 that get from "being interested" to "being a Fast Jet Pilot".

Well I still want WSOp but I came very close to passing for pilot. Never considered it due to my height and I did an Level 3 engineering BTEC instead of A levels so can't go officer. I'm just doing some digging seeing what's available. In an ideal world I'd like to do all 3. Doubt I'll be doing that tho ;)

Depending on the service you choose to join, being a commissioned Officer is not a pre-requisite to becoming a military pilot.
