Fortunately no serious injuries, but it seems strange for wreckage to be removed without the AAIB being involved. Apparently this was an Ikarus C42

No injuries of any consequence, the pilot may well have reported it to the AAIB by phone and been asked to submit a written account of the accident. AAIB don't send out field teams to every accident.

A couple of other Northern Irish correspondence investigations.

Ordinarily described as gusts of wind, distraction or some other nonsense. Quite often, a pilot's report (non-field investigation) completely misses the salient points, such as being overloaded, crap weather, poor engine management etc etc.

Though not necessarily in this case.

Indeed. But there is a tendency for the extremities of the Empire to miss-out on oversight. :)
