Hey,

I have setted special header and footer in my word document. And I need to send it to other. I want to restrict the editing of the header and footer so that others can't change it.

But I can only restrict the editing of the whole document, did I miss something? Can that be done in word2010??

Thanks

No, you can't do that. At least not by just clicking a button and setting a password.

It might be possible using macros and password protecting the macro editing function, but that is a much more complicated process which may prevent other parts of the document from working correctly if they need to include macro functions.

You should also be aware that there are many programs available on the Internet that will bypass all protection in a Word document and allow it to be saved so that it can be altered or edited by anyone.

So basically you cannot protect Word documents or any part of a Word document if someone has a copy of the password unlocking software. I have used it to open locked documents where someone has left an organisation and failed to leave the access password. It is 100% effective at gaining access in a couple of seconds.

Sure is possible, just make sure that you are at the top of your word document.

1. Go to Page Layout, then click Breaks.
2. Click Continuous under Section breaks, and then click OK.
3. Go to Review, click Restrict Editing.
4. In the Restrict Editing side panel, click to select the Allow only this type of editing in the document check box, and then change the box to Filling in forms.
5. Click Select sections.
6. In the Selection Protection dialog box, click to clear the Section 2 check box, and then click OK.
7. Under Start enforcement, click Yes, Start Enforcing Protection.
8. Assign a password and OK
