Excellent Daily Mail reporting again (yawn)! Good thing the cabin crew made the decision to return to Beijing. God knows what the FD crew would have done without them :eek:

Given that the engine was apparently not secured before landing, are you sure that was an engine fire? Bird strike, perhaps?
The aircraft landed safely under power of both engines and taxied to the gate, according to the airline.

Looks like they stayed at 900 metres for a quick right hand circuit off 36R.

Compressor stalls that went away when the power was retarded perhaps?

That was a surge. Usually make an unsettling bang!
