Hello - looking for advice on the following situation:

I currently hold:
- UAE GCAA ATP (Class 1 Medical - currently active)
- FAA ATPL (Medical expired)

I am in process of doing 14 EASA exams and will need to get a UK CAA issued INITIAL medical.

Do I need to do this SOLI transfer business or can I just get an initial as UAE-GCAA is not EASA member and I don't hold a current FAA medical?

I don't envision the GCAA would be very efficient at sending medical records to the UK.

Any recommendations for doctors to see in UK or even in the UAE would be most appreciated.

For reference, the CAA website says the following about SOLI:

"This information is for pilots who hold a non-UK issued JAR or EASA medical certificate and/or licence and who wish to obtain a medical certificate which will allow the UK CAA to issue a UK EASA licence. This means that the UK becomes the “State of Licence issue”.

... Technically I don't hold any JAR or EASA medical or Licence.....so can I just go do an initial medical in the UK?
The wording of this "SOLI Flowchart" (https://www.caa.co.uk/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=4294975662): doesn't imply anything about licences outside the scope of JAR or EASA.

BUT....this UK CAA medical website seems pretty clear:

Conflicting info from Avmed.org.uk:
"Note 2: Applicants wishing to obtain a UK CAA EU (EASA) Licence, who hold, or have held, a JAA or EU (EASA) medical certificate or licence issued by an aviation authority other than the UK CAA, must change their “State of Licence Issue” to the UK"

For future people:

I called CAA medical: +44 1293 567171

And a nice gentleman explained that the SOLI process is only for holders of a medical or licence from another EASA member state.

In my instance neither FAA or GCAA are EASA so they basically don't exist in the eyes of the CAA and I will simply book an appointment for an initial class 1 medical the next time i'm in the UK.
