I've been on the AirServices website for ATC jobs.. where they provide an overview. They say the minimum requirements, 18 or over and a AUS/NZ citizen or PR. I qualify for those ... quite easily. As in the age thing... I'm over double the accepted age. Is there an age at which point you would say, "Mmm... maybe that ship has sailed... it's off to pasture for you... do you need me to speak up?"?

For example, 42? That's too old?

Also, training at 42K, then 71K, and then 96K, are all under what I earn at the moment... but that role seems more rewarding and I'm no where near aviation in my IT role...

So, are there cases where people have done a career change into ATC, and would anyone say, "Yeah, go for it!" or ... "No... it's not as thrilling as sitting at a desktop, often fixing others' defects".

More info.. Brisbane, with a family of 3.

There is a whole ATC section in Ground Ops. A very long Airservices specific thread and multiple threads asking this exact question
