Does anyone know the history of a rather forlorn looking Tudor that stood for years on the pan at Rolls Royce Hucknall in the mid 1960's:confused:

It would have been an Avro Ashton which was a development of the Tudor. The Ashton used the basic airframe of the Tudor but with four Nene jet engines, a tricycle undercarriage and square topped fin, in place of the four Merlins, tailwheel undercarriage and round topped fin of the original Tudor.

Rolls Royce used one Ashton for engine development work on the Avon and Conway. This presumably is the airframe to which you refer. The last "original" Tudor met its end at the fire training school at Stansted in the early 1960s.
