Round about 1960 CAS decided that each Command should have a film made about their work. I was involved in the Training Command version.

Does anyone know what happened to this?

DW, would that be FTC or TTC? I know around that era many films were made. Two I remember were a low level single seat device and Green Satin Doppler. Did they come from Services Kinema?

DW,

If you search on line for SFE (Strike Force Entertainment) you'll find a list of RAF and other old official short films compiled into albums such as; Royal Air Force in the early 1960s and so on. You'll probably find your moment of fame there.:ok:

The 'Look at Life' series that were once popular in cinemas filmed my course of aspiring aviators. I was given the immortal line "That sounds like a good idea!". When it was screened I was poised for my moment of fame - but it never came. What a let down. :-( It, along with much other material I can remember was edited out. Hence I was denied a well paid and cushy acting job with gorgeous females. Life ain't fair!

The film "Delta 8-3" was made by United Artists for use as a cinema B-feature movie in 1960. It follows a Vulcan crew of 83 Sqn through their training at Waddington. Lasts about 30 minutes and is available on the 1960s compilation mentioned in FB's post above (#3).

And looking a darned sight smarter than the current daily uniform, clearly made by the cheapest bidder with shirts that fade quicker than Leicester City and trousers that come out of the was so fluffy they look like a poodle has used them for bedding!

At 4:52 of Delta 8-3 the final GCA controller is Gordon Parkin. He ended his RAF career in ATC at Benson, and then joined the British Airways Flying Club at Booker as a full-time flying instructor, , which is where I came to know him.

Ah, so it is! <cyber wave to Gordon> I thought he looked familiar! He came to Singapore when I was there to visit his son, Sam, who was a fellow ATCO at Tengah. I have a photo somewhere of the 3 of us down in Bugis Street.
